Abstract:
Integrating traditional Taiji culture and modern healthcare presents a unique opportunity for developing Taiji wellness towns. These rural destinations, combining elements of tourism, traditional Chinese medicine, and healthy living, have gained popularity in recent years. However, challenges such as homogenization, lack of sustainable practices, and insufficient medical resources hinder their progress. This study explores the current status and issues faced by Taiji wellness towns. It investigates how integrating sports and medicine can provide a pathway for their transformation and upgrading. A framework is proposed to enhance these towns' wellness offerings, service quality, and economic sustainability by examining successful case studies, relevant theories, and potential strategies. The findings shed light on how leveraging the synergies between Taiji, healthcare, and tourism can revitalize rural areas while promoting holistic well-being aligned with China's Healthy China initiative.
