Abstract:
STEAM is a trendy educational concept and practical model that holds significant importance in global educational innovation and change, and is consistent with the direction of curriculum and teaching reform in China at present. STEAM education in the context of comprehensive disciplines consists of numerous elements. From the perspective of disciplinary composition, STEAM education includes five disciplinary elements: science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics, etc; From the perspective of practical framework, STEAM education has three major characteristics: student-centered, starting from solving real-life problems, and integrating knowledge from various disciplines to solve problems. The development and practical experience of STEAM education in the United States provide useful references for curriculum reform in China. There are educational types related to STEAM education, such as STS, STEM, maker education, and core competency education. The purpose of STEAM education is to cultivate well-rounded individuals, with the expectation of enhancing students' core competencies and innovative practical abilities through curriculum and classroom changes.
