Abstract:

Small scale rural schools in Finland have always been an important component of the Finnish education system. Small scale rural schools in Finland are facing challenges such as weakened functions as community centers, accelerated rural decline, complexity of mixed age teaching, and limited professional development of teachers. In the process of transformation, the current development of small-scale rural schools in Finland is showing a trend of focusing on the contribution of small-scale rural schools to the sustainable development of local communities, building community-based learning environments, achieving cluster development of small-scale rural schools through mergers, and expanding the application of information and communication technology in small-scale rural schools. These experiences have certain reference significance for improving the high-quality and balanced development of compulsory education in China and assisting rural revitalization.
