Abstract:

With the increasing frequency of China's foreign exchanges, the importance of English is becoming more and more significant. For non English major students, college English classes are the most important platform for improving their English proficiency. Classroom teaching activities need to be conducted through frequent interaction between teachers and students. However, most students choose to remain silent for a long time in class, which hinders classroom communication and affects their learning outcomes. The discussion of this phenomenon is of great significance to both students and teachers. The article aims to deeply analyze the current situation of silence in college English classrooms and its main reasons, and propose strategies to improve classroom silence for college English teachers based on actual teaching.
