Application of Problem-based Teaching in the Cultivation of Core Competencies in Geography Discipline

Abstract:

The new curriculum standards for high school geography emphasize the implementation of core geographical literacy, advocate problem-based teaching, and achieve the basic goal of cultivating students' moral character. This article takes the compulsory high school geography course "Ocean Currents" published by Hunan Education Press as an example, with problem teaching as the outline, creating a driving problem scenario, and using forms such as learning plan guidance, experimental demonstration, and group exploration for classroom teaching, in order to enhance students' core competencies such as regional cognition, geographical practice, comprehensive thinking, and human environment coordination.
