Abstract:

In today's increasingly globalized world, geography education is not only about imparting knowledge, but also an important way to cultivate students' global perspectives, local identity, and sustainable development concepts. As a unique branch of geography, local geography provides students with fresh materials for understanding geographical concepts, mastering geographical skills, and forming geographical thinking with its unique regional characteristics, cultural heritage, and ecological environment. However, in current geography education, the development and utilization of local geography curriculum resources are still insufficient, and their unique value in stimulating students' interest, deepening geography learning, and promoting comprehensive development has not been fully realized. With the advancement of the new curriculum reform, how to cultivate students' core competencies in geography and implement the fundamental task of "cultivating morality and nurturing talents" has become the core of high school geography curriculum reform. Local geography curriculum resources are an important component of high school geography curriculum resources, and their development and utilization have significant implications for cultivating students' core competencies in geography. This article proposes four development principles for its development: practicality principle, practicality principle, practicality principle, and comprehensiveness principle. From the perspective of geography teachers, utilization strategies are proposed from both in class and out of class aspects.
