A Blended Learning Design for Cultivating Higher- order Thinking Skills in Environmental Design Major

Abstract:

As a discipline that emphasizes both creativity and practice, the core of environmental design lies in cultivating professional talents with innovative thinking, design ability, and practical skills. With the diversification and complexity of design demands in society, environmental design education is facing unprecedented challenges. As a key indicator for measuring the comprehensive quality of design talents, the cultivation of higher-order thinking skills has become a focus of current education reform. Traditional teaching methods often focus on imparting knowledge and training skills, making it difficult to effectively stimulate students' innovative thinking and problem-solving abilities. Blended learning, as an emerging teaching model, provides a new path for cultivating higher-order thinking skills in environmental design majors by combining online self-directed learning with offline interactive teaching. In this regard, this article analyzes the position of higher-order thinking skills in the profession, dissects the current situation of cultivating higher-order thinking skills in environmental design major, explores the advantages of blended learning in cultivating higher-order thinking skills, and then carries out blended learning design for cultivating higher-order thinking skills in environmental design major, in order to promote the development of students' higher-order thinking skills in the field of environmental design and cultivate more environmental design talents with innovative spirit and professional literacy.
