Abstract:
Based on a stratified sample survey of 32 high schools in 8 provinces and cities across China (N=2,156), this study found that there are three major structural contradictions in the current music appreciation course: the disconnection between the curriculum standard and the implementation effect (the rate of meeting the standard is only 41.2%), the imbalance between the aesthetic experience and the transmission of knowledge (cognitive content accounts for 78% of the total), and the disjunction between the classical inheritance and the needs of the times (the works of the 90's account for less than 15% of the total works The study is also concerned with the imbalance between aesthetic experience and knowledge transmission (78% of cognitive content), and the disconnect between classical heritage and the needs of the times (less than 15% of works by the post-90s). The research constructed a three-dimensional teaching model of "cultural anchoring-perceptual training-creative transfer", which was implemented in the experimental school, and the accuracy of students' music emotion recognition increased from 38.7% to 82.4% (p<0.001), and the multicultural comprehension improved significantly (effect size d=1.27). The paper proposes a "Music Literacy Development Index" (MSDI) assessment system, which provides a theoretical tool and practical paradigm for the reform of aesthetic education in the new era.
