Abstract:

Against the backdrop of China’s deepening legal globalization, this study employs a corpus-driven approach to analyze noun phraseological patterns in the official English translation of The Civil Code of the People’s Republic of China. Through the construction of a Chinese-English parallel corpus, this study identifies high-frequency noun phrases and nominal frames, examining their structural characteristics, functional roles, and translation strategies. The findings reveal that legal terms and nominal frames dominated by of- structures prevail in the translation, reflecting the formality and accuracy of legal English. This research contributes to legal translation theory by demonstrating the critical role of phraseology in maintaining conceptual precision and enhancing international legal communication.
