Abstract:

Chinas High-Level Talent Development Policy has reshaped the priorities of higher education, emphasizing both the cultivation of a high-quality teaching workforce and the development of well-rounded, innovative talent. While significant progress has been made in advancing technical and vocational education, the integration of humanities disciplines within vocational colleges remains underdeveloped. This paper examines the necessity of establishing humanities education in vocational colleges under the evolving national talent strategy. Drawing on policy analysis and institutional case reflections, this study proposes targeted strategies including faculty development, curricular reform, campus culture enrichment, and the judicious use of new media platforms. The integration of humanities education not only enhances students' moral reasoning, cultural competence, and critical thinking but also aligns vocational education with broader goals of national development and international engagement. By addressing structural and pedagogical limitations, vocational colleges can more effectively implement the High-Level Talent Development Policy and contribute to the formation of ethically grounded and socially responsible professionals.
