Abstract:
Against the backdrop of the comprehensive implementation of the “Healthy China” strategy, higher
education not only shoulders the mission of talent cultivation and knowledge innovation but also bears the
important responsibility of promoting the physical and mental health and holistic development of young
students. University physical education (PE) courses, as a key avenue for cultivating students’ health literacy, serve both as an essential means of improving physical fitness and as a critical link in shaping healthy values and
lifestyles. However, for a long time, university PE in China has generally suffered from the disconnection between
theory and practice, an overemphasis on skills while neglecting health, and overly uniform teaching methods. This has led to students lacking systematic health knowledge and scientific exercise concepts, thereby limiting
the contribution of PE courses to the “Healthy China” strategy. Taking the Healthy China strategy as the entry
point, this paper systematically analyzes the necessity of integrating sports health knowledge into university
practical teaching, reviews the current problems and constraints, and proposes practical and innovative reform
pathways for teaching models[1]. The study concludes that the organic integration of sports health knowledge
into practice teaching not only enhances students’ sports skills and physical fitness but also fosters their scientific
exercise concepts and self-health management abilities, thereby enabling university PE to play a greater role in
serving both national strategies and individual growth.
