Abstract:
China’s population aging process continues to deepen, with the elderly population expanding rapidly. The increasing demand for elderly care services poses new challenges and higher requirements for nursing
education in colleges and universities. As the key institutions for cultivating professional nursing talent, universities must align their educational philosophy, curriculum design, practical training models, and talent
development directions with the actual needs of an aging society. Against this backdrop, this paper analyzes the
current situation and shortcomings of nursing education in cultivating geriatric nursing professionals, explores
the challenges faced under the trend of aging, and proposes systematic theoretical strategies for improvement
from the aspects of curriculum optimization, reform of practical teaching, faculty development, interdisciplinary
integration, and the application of information technology in education. This study provides both academic
reference and practical pathways for the transformation and development of nursing education in China’s
universities in the new era, while also promoting the improvement of the elderly care service system and the
realization of the “Healthy China” strategy.
