Abstract:

With the deepening of higher education reform in the new era, core literacy has become an important goal in cultivating high-quality talents within China’s educational system. College physical education courses, especially basketball courses, not only carry the fundamental function of improving students’ physical fitness but also play a unique role in enhancing teamwork spirit, communication ability, rule consciousness, and innovative thinking. The traditional model of college basketball teaching focuses excessively on skill training and competition performance, while neglecting the cultivation of students’ comprehensive literacy, resulting in insufficient interest, low participation, and limited effectiveness. Guided by the educational philosophy of core literacy, this paper systematically analyzes the problems existing in the current teaching of college basketball courses, elaborates on the necessity and practical significance of reform, and constructs a scientific and reasonable reform path from the dimensions of curriculum objectives, teaching content, teaching methods, and evaluation system. The study concludes that by centering on student development and highlighting the comprehensive value of basketball in cultivating core literacy, it is possible not only to enhance students’ athletic skills but also to effectively promote their social adaptability and lifelong physical literacy, thereby providing useful reference and guidance for the reform of college physical education.
