Abstract:
A test was conducted on students from three grades of Shenzhen polytechnic university using the “Student Physical Health Standard”. Their health status, health education needs, and the health education provided by the school were surveyed through a questionnaire. The “Student Physical Health Standard” test showed that second-year students had better physical fitness compared to first-year and third-year students, with first-year students having the lowest fitness levels. In terms of health status, students' subjective evaluations were higher than objective evaluations, likely due to weak health awareness among students. Objectively, first-year students had the best health status. Over half of the students received health education resources such as health promotion brochure, campus network platforms, and health lectures. Regarding the content of health education courses, more than half of the students hoped to receive knowledge on basic medicine, common disease prevention and treatment, first aid and accident handling, mental health and psychological counseling, chronic disease and infectious disease prevention and treatment, and food hygiene and nutrition. As the important link for health education for students, universities should continuously improve and optimize health education levels to enhance students' health literacy, among which physical exercise is a crucial aspect for maintaining and improving health.
