Abstract:
Traditional methods for protecting historical heritage have significant limitations in information processing and management. With the goal of developing mechanisms for the protection and management of world heritage sites, the construction process of a GIS database for heritage resource investigation and information integration is analyzed through successful cases at home and abroad. This article elaborates on the practical application of GIS in cultural heritage protection, regional cultural and natural heritage protection, and landscape heritage protection. It is pointed out that in the field of domestic heritage protection, new ways of thinking and research methods should be utilized, and GIS and other digital technologies should be comprehensively applied to heritage protection and management research. In the future, it is particularly necessary to strengthen research on heritage value, heritage document preservation, GIS system detection, and other aspects. The research results indicate that information processing, writing heritage documents, and drawing thematic maps are the core links in the construction process of dynamic GIS databases, which can effectively explore the outstanding heritage value of historical cities and help management departments formulate different strategies for the protection and management of urban heritage literature, thus providing innovative ideas for future heritage protection and sustainable development in China.
