Abstract:
Artificial intelligence ideas, methods, and technologies are leading revolutionary changes in many fields, including transportation systems and their disciplines. The high randomness, fuzziness, uncertainty, and complexity of transportation systems have spurred the proposal and development of artificial intelligence in transportation. It not only provides new ideas and technological support for solving transportation problems, but also serves as an important carrier for the systematic innovation of artificial intelligence theory and methods. This article starts from the essence and development of artificial intelligence, as well as the application problems and needs of transportation systems. It summarizes the background and professional connotation of transportation artificial intelligence, and reviews the research status of transportation artificial intelligence from the aspects of traffic perception and prediction, transportation system diagnosis and decision-making, transportation intelligent control, and transportation travel services. It also explores the development direction and trends of transportation artificial intelligence. The research results aim to promote the cross integration and development of transportation system engineering and artificial intelligence disciplines, and open up innovative research fields in transportation artificial intelligence, which has important foresight and leadership.
