Abstract：

In the context of rapid urbanization, cultural heritage, as a precious carrier of urban history and culture, faces unprecedented challenges and opportunities. On the one hand, large-scale construction and renovation activities in the process of urbanization may cause damage to cultural heritage; On the other hand, the protection and utilization of cultural heritage is also an important way to enhance urban cultural soft power and build characteristic cultural cities. Therefore, how to balance the relationship between urban development and cultural heritage protection has become an urgent problem to be solved in the fields of urban planning and cultural construction. This article will explore the strategies and paths for the construction of characteristic cultural cities from the perspective of cultural heritage protection, in order to provide useful references for cultural heritage protection and urban cultural construction in the process of urbanization.
