Abstract:
Short chain fatty acids (SCFAs) are fatty acids with less than 6 carbon atoms in the carbon chain, mainly composed of acetic acid, propionic acid, and butyric acid, and are one of the metabolites of gut microbiota. Hypertension is the main risk factor for cardiovascular disease. In recent years, an increasing number of studies have found that SCFAs are involved in the occurrence and development of hypertension. This article provides a review of the research progress on the correlation between SCFA and hypertension, including an overview of SCFA, the correlation between SCFA and hypertension, and the mechanism by which SCFA affects blood pressure.
