Abstract:

The external fixation component of a urinary catheter plays a critical role in maintaining the stability of the catheterization system, directly influencing clinical safety, patient comfort, and long-term effectiveness. With the widespread application of catheterization in intensive care, postoperative management, and long-term patient care, stable catheter fixation has become increasingly important for ensuring therapeutic outcomes. Inadequate fixation may lead to catheter displacement, urethral injury, and infection, thereby compromising treatment efficacy. As clinical demands continue to rise, traditional fixation methods are no longer sufficient, and structural reliability has emerged as a key research focus in medical device design. This study systematically reviews the structural reliability of external catheter fixation components from multiple perspectives, aiming to provide theoretical support and practical guidance for future innovations.
