Abstract:

The user interface (UI) was once only about making things work but is now largely about how digital things make us feel. In this paper, we examine the theoretical foundation and practical operation of expressing emotion in UI based on the interactive experience theory. This paper examines how visual language, micro-interactions, feedback, and storytelling function as emotional transmitters, drawing on models such as affective design, product experience theory, and persuasive technology. We will examine each level Norman’s three levels—visceral, behavioral, and reflectivewith reference to some specific design practices and case analyses show applicatio for consumer and financial products. Paper concludes with design suggestions that can be done and also future work like AIDR driven emotional personalization.
