Opportunities and Challenges Faced by Teacher Education Majors in Higher Vocational Colleges
Wang Huihong

Abstract:
As an important part of vocational education, higher vocational colleges play an indispensable role in cultivating future educational talents through teacher education majors. While affirming the achievements made by teacher education majors in higher vocational colleges, people also have doubts and worries about their educational quality, training modes and adaptability to market demands. Although teacher education majors in higher vocational colleges are endowed with opportunities such as national policy support, clear direction guided by professional accreditation and continuously expanding social demands, they still face many challenges in terms of student source quality, practical teaching, faculty strength and student employment. Promoting the construction of "high-level professional groups" for teacher education majors and the contingent of "double-qualified" teachers, firmly implementing the professional accreditation of teacher education majors, and integrating vocational education resources to run schools in a group-oriented way are important magic weapons for higher vocational colleges to seize opportunities and meet challenges. They are not only the implementation of national strategic policies, but also an in-depth exploration of the characteristics of vocational education.
