Abstract：

Blockchain technology has broad application prospects in promoting high-quality development of agriculture and rural areas, and has received widespread attention from countries around the world. At present, China is in the late stage of poverty alleviation and a critical period of comprehensive rural revitalization. The weak centralization and decentralization characteristics of the industrial and social structure of agriculture and rural areas in China have a natural coupling and application point with blockchain^[1]. This article focuses on the current literature on the application of blockchain in agriculture and rural areas, which emphasizes agriculture and rural finance, and has a certain degree of fragmentation. It regards "agriculture, rural areas, and farmers" as an inseparable whole of the "comprehensive rural revitalization" strategy. Firstly, the relevant background and technical characteristics of blockchain are summarized. Then, from a global perspective, the research status of agricultural and rural blockchain applications at home and abroad is sorted out, and the main difficulties and issues of current blockchain applications are pointed out. Finally, combined with the three aspects of agricultural industry, rural governance, and farmers' livelihood, it sequentially discusses smart agriculture based on trustworthy Internet of Things, trustworthy support network for new agricultural management system, agricultural product quality and safety system, new generation rural e-commerce, trustworthy rural finance and agricultural insurance system, trustworthy grassroots organizational governance network, etc A comprehensive outlook has been made on the application of blockchain in eleven "three rural" hot topics, including the trustworthy rural collective asset management system, trustworthy rural tourism industry, rural living environment improvement, targeted poverty alleviation, and trustworthy migrant worker rights protection network. In the future, the combination of blockchain with other "new infrastructure" elements such as 5G and artificial intelligence will accelerate the evolution of society towards Society 5.0.
