Abstract:
Labor drives the continuous development of society, and workers are the primary force behind the evolution of civilization and the creation of history. Guided by the materialist conception of history, the new edition of the nationally unified high school history textbooks adjusts traditional narrative perspectives by incorporating the productive practices and struggles of ordinary workers from different historical periods into historical accounts, thereby forming a rich and well-structured narrative system centered on workers. This paper takes the nationally unified high school history textbooks as its research subject, examines the characteristics of how content related to workers is presented in the textbooks, and elucidates the educational value inherent in the narratives of workers from four dimensions: the shaping of historical cognition, the cultivation of work ethics, the fostering of patriotism and a sense of national identity, and the development of practical character. By integrating the practical realities of high school history classroom instruction, this paper explores corresponding teaching implementation pathways, leverages the strengths of the history discipline to implement labor education, and supports the comprehensive development of students' core historical literacy and overall competencies.
