Technology-Empowered Living Protection and Inheritance Innovation of Digitized Musical Intangible Cultural Heritage of Various Ethnic Groups in Xinjiang
Pei Yu
Xinjiang Normal University
Abstract:
Xinjiang boasts rich musical intangible cultural heritage of multiple ethnic groups. Artistic forms such as the Uyghur Muqam, the Kirghiz Komuz Art and the Kazakh Dastan are deeply rooted in folk customs, embodying regional historical memories and ethnic sentiments. Under modern-day circumstances, the traditional inheritance modes of oral transmission and master-apprenticeship teaching have encountered practical difficulties. Problems including the aging of inheritors, the loss of young audiences and geographical barriers have put many precious musical skills at risk of inheritance disruption. The popularization of digital technology enables intangible cultural heritage to evolve from static archives toward living continuity.
