Research on Ventilation and Cooling of High Temperature Construction Tunnels

Abstract:

With the rapid economic development and the enhancement of comprehensive national strength, China has increasingly invested in tunnel engineering, especially in mountainous regions where long-distance and deeply buried tunnels have become crucial research topics. The growing demand for tunnel construction has also set higher requirements for engineering practices. However, while benefiting from such tunnels, a series of engineering challenges must be addressed. The increase in tunnel length and burial depth leads to high geothermal conditions and additional heat accumulation during construction. Due to the single exit and extended tunnel length, natural ventilation circulation cannot be established near the tunnel face, resulting in high-temperature thermal hazards. These issues significantly impact construction efficiency and safety. Construction ventilation is an effective method to mitigate high-temperature thermal hazards in tunnels. Therefore, designing a scientifically efficient and cost-effective ventilation system is essential to improving the internal thermal environment, reducing rock and air temperatures, enhancing construction efficiency, and ensuring both project and operational safety.
