Implications of Genre Approach in ESL/EFL Writing: Social Interaction and Social Construction Perspectives

Abstract:

Writing is a crucial skill for effective communication in English as a second or foreign language. This paper analyzes the genre approach from social interaction and social construction perspectives. It draws two key implications for English writing teaching: fostering students' genre and audience awareness, and facilitating knowledge construction. By equipping them, students could better adapt to diverse rhetorical contexts and enhance their writing proficiency.
