From Health Inequality to Digital Health Inequality: A Health Shift in the Digital Age

Abstract:

Digital health inequality arises not only from the backwardness of health concepts but also from the deep integration of technological logic into social relations, as well as the undermining of medical and health services by the interweaving of capital and technology. Recognizing the importance of digital determinants of health means treating health as a fundamental human right in the digital age. It is crucial to adopt a deeper understanding that humans are the ultimate goal of development, and that the primacy of life should serve as the core value and underlying logic in the healthcare field during the digital era. To achieve health equity in the digital age, we should focus on the relationship between digital technology and social systems, update our perception of health, and promote the empowerment of health systems through technology to deliver people-centered health services. Additionally, we should emphasize global connectivity and build a digital health community.
