Abstract:

Surgical stress exists in all kinds of surgical procedures to varying degrees. Surgical stress can lead to ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI), sympathetic nervous system (SNS) over-activation, post-traumatic immunosuppression (PTI), hypercoagulability, inflammation and other aspects of injury. The efficacy of acupuncture in regulating surgical stress is certain and has its own unique advantages. In recent years, acupuncture has made progress in improving postoperative IRI, SNS hyperactivation, PTI, hypercoagulability and inflammation. In this paper, we summarize the evidence on the regulation of surgical stress by acupuncture, outline the progress of its mechanism, and discuss the value of acupuncture in regulating surgical stress.
