Abstract:
Research on oracle bone inscriptions, particularly in the field of music and dance, faces a range of challenges, including pronounced disciplinary boundaries, fragmented resource distribution, limited information accessibility, and monotonous forms of presentation. Addressing these issues, this study explores a new interdisciplinary research pathway grounded in digital humanities, using the music and dance culture of the Shang dynasty as a point of entry. It integrates perspectives from oracle bone studies, archaeology, musicology, and dance studies to develop the "Wenwu Siku," a digital platform that combines a catalogue database, character database, document database, and an audio-visual database. The platform centers on a multidimensional relational data model-character form-semantics-documents-artistic display—and aims to support the integration and creative use of oracle bone resources related to music and dance in artistic disciplines such as dance studies. It achieves systematic integration and efficient sharing of interdisciplinary resources, explores a methodological shift from textual interpretation to embodied interpretation, and ensures the long-term and effective digital preservation of Shang dynasty music and dance culture. Moreover, through its relational architecture and user-friendly interface, the platform significantly enhances the efficiency of resource utilization in scholarly research.Practical experience demonstrates that this platform offers new research perspectives and practical tools for historical and theoretical studies, creative work, and teaching in artistic disciplines such as art studies, musicology, and dance studies. It provides a valuable digital paradigm for the interdisciplinary integration of oracle bone inscription research and the humanities and arts. Moreover, it plays a positive role in promoting the dynamic inheritance and innovative development of outstanding traditional Chinese culture.
