Abstract:

As an important form of supply chain finance, commercial credit supply helps small and medium-sized customers overcome the difficulties of financing with high costs, playing a crucial role in expanding market reach and generating profits for enterprises. However, it also brings various potential risks. Using Chinese A-share listed companies from 2008 to 2023 as the research sample, this paper explores the impact of executives' overseas experiences on corporate commercial credit supply. The study finds that executives' overseas experiences significantly promote corporate commercial credit supply. Moreover, such experiences tend to shorten the duration of corporate commercial credit supply. From the perspective of executives' personal characteristics, this paper enriches the research on factors influencing corporate commercial credit supply, providing new empirical evidence for understanding corporate business decision-making. It also offers important implications for enterprises in optimizing their executive structure and improving commercial credit risk management.
