Abstract:
Against the backdrop of comprehensive educational reform, core competencies have emerged as a key
concept guiding the development of all disciplines. This framework focuses on cultivating the essential character
traits and critical abilities students need to adapt to lifelong development and societal progress. As a vital arena
for nurturing professional artists and preserving and innovating artistic culture, higher education in fine arts
bears a unique and significant educational mission. The theory of core competencies offers a fresh perspective
and directional guidance for higher education art programs. It extends beyond enhancing students' professional
skills to emphasize the cultivation of comprehensive competencies such as aesthetic perception, artistic
expression, and cultural understanding. Deeply exploring the educational value of higher education art programs
under the guidance of core competencies and clarifying their implementation pathways holds crucial theoretical
value and practical significance for advancing the high-quality development of such programs and cultivating
innovative art professionals who meet contemporary demands. This paper, grounded in core literacy theory, elucidates the educational value of higher education in fine arts and proposes concrete implementation
pathways. It aims to guide higher education in fine arts back to its fundamental purpose of nurturing talent, enhance the quality of talent cultivation, and provide theoretical references and practical insights for the high- quality development of aesthetic education in the new era.
