Abstract：

In the contemporary context of globalization, digitalization, and cultural diversity, artistic creation is undergoing unprecedented conceptual transformation and linguistic innovation. As a traditional genre that combines lyricism and expressiveness, watercolor landscape painting continues to break through established paradigms amid the impact of the era's waves, ushering in new opportunities for development. The convergence of contemporary social cultures, widespread adoption of digital technology, open and diverse artistic ecosystems, and evolving aesthetic demands of audiences collectively form the crucial backdrop for the evolution of watercolor landscape painting's artistic language. Against this foundation, the medium continually expands and innovates in technical expression, formal composition, spiritual substance, and dissemination methods, progressively achieving a profound shift from traditional realistic representation to contemporary conceptual expression. This paper adopts a contemporary contextual perspective. It first defines the contemporary context, then analyzes the historical backdrop of watercolor landscape painting's artistic evolution, and finally traces the innovative pathways of contemporary watercolor landscape painting. The aim is to summarize the developmental patterns and innovative characteristics of contemporary watercolor landscape painting, providing reference for theoretical research and creative practice in watercolor art.
