Abstract：

This paper attempts to analyze the modern development and modern artistic characteristics of Kucha murals in Xinjiang with the help of iconography. The Kucha grottoes, represented by Kizil Grottoes, not only show the development track of the eastward spread of Buddhist culture and Chinese localization, but also witness the glorious history of ancient Buddhist culture in Xinjiang from the 3rd to the 14th century, which has a far-reaching impact on Chinese Grotto Art, including Dunhuang. The decorative nature of Kucha mural painting enables us to reproduce its research from the decomposition of color, lines and graphics, and summarize and analyze its application in rock color painting creation.
