A Multimodal Discourse Analysis of the Two Film Posters of Dream Scenario from the Perspective of Visual Grammar
Feng Jianyang

Abstract:
This study analyzes two official posters of the 2023 film Dream Scenario using Kress and van Leeuwen’s visual grammar framework. Through qualitative multimodal discourse analysis, it compares how representational, interactive, and compositional meanings differ between the posters. Poster A emphasizes individual isolation and psychological descent, while Poster B depicts fragmented dreamscapes and collective perception. The findings highlight distinct image–text relationships and demonstrate the value of visual grammar for understanding the semiotic strategies of film marketing.
