Abstract:

The subtitle translation of documentary is different from traditional translation and other types of subtitle translation. It is not only limited by time and space, but also has the characteristics of authenticity and narrative. This C-E subtitle translation selects the 11th episode of Chinese Micro card: World Heritage as the translation material. Without considering technical problems such as subtitle insertion, this paper analyzes the characteristics and difficulties of subtitle translation of this documentary, mainly including the translation study about its culture-loaded words, four-character cases, parallel structures and non-text factors. According to the characteristics and purposes of documentary translation, the translator adopts various translation methods, such as free translation, omission, substitution and so on, focusing on the conciseness and explicitness of subtitle translation and striving to give the target audience the best visual effect.
