From Assistance to Co-creation: A Study on the Use of AI Tools in Social Behaviors of Youth Groups

Abstract:
With the rapid development of digital intelligence technology and generative AI, AI tools have fully permeated the daily social interactions of youth groups. As technology further advances, AI tools have evolved from mere assistance to human-AI co-creation in youth social interactions. In the early stages, AI tools primarily served auxiliary functions such as photo enhancement and text polishing, providing convenience for youth social interactions. With the iterative development of AI tools, youth groups have gradually progressed to using them for text generation, intelligent interaction, and virtual identity construction. AI tools have moved from being invisible backstage tools to front-stage "co-creators." Drawing on Goffman's dramaturgical theory, this paper analyzes the social behaviors of youth groups and finds that the auxiliary and co-creative functions of AI tools reinforce the performative aspects of dramaturgical theory in youth social interactions. At the same time, it also leads to practical problems such as weakened social skills, blurred identity, and privacy security concerns.
