Abstract：

With the iteration of short video converged media, digital teaching has become an important reform direction of college English education. Telling Chinese stories well is a core goal of college English curriculum ideological and political education, which undertakes the tasks of improving students' English application ability, shaping cultural confidence and enhancing international communication competence. Traditional college English practical teaching is restricted by single teaching mode, insufficient situational training and disconnected cultural output, leading to students' weak ability to interpret and spread Chinese stories in English. Based on multimodal discourse theory, situational teaching theory and curriculum ideological and political theory, this paper takes short video converged media as the carrier, explores the innovative path of practical teaching for telling Chinese stories well in college English, constructs a targeted mixed teaching system, and verifies the teaching effect through teaching practice. The research shows that short video converged media can effectively activate students' learning initiative, build authentic cross-cultural communication scenarios, and significantly improve students' Chinese story narration and external communication ability.
