Global Publishing Top 50

The "Global Publishing Top 50" is initiated by the French publishing magazine Livres Hebdo, and is conducted and reported by the RWCC International Book Industry Research Institute. It is published globally in August or September by China Baidao Network, Germany's "Book Report", the United States' "Publishers' Weekly", and Brazil's "Publishing News". In 2022, four publicly listed publishing and media companies in China entered the rankings. Among them, China Science and Technology Publishing and Media Co., Ltd. ranks 38th, and the other three on the list are Phoenix Publishing and Media Group, Zhongnan Publishing and Media Group, and China Publishing Group. The report was studied by Ruediger Wishenpart Content and Consulting. The Global Publishing Top 50 Report includes rankings by annual revenue, industry trend analysis, and detailed enterprise profiles; The introduction includes a historical summary, key financial data, and recent developments of the enterprise. The data collected by the Global Publishing Top 50 Ranking Report is mainly related to the main industry, including books, digital publishing, professional information, and B2B book distribution. On the premise that public information can be distinguished, the income from newspaper, magazine publishing, news agency services, and printing services is not included.

The French publishing magazine "Book Weekly" has released the "2022 Global Publishing Top 50 Report". The report is sorted based on international practice and the operating revenue of enterprises in 2021. Reed Elsevier Publishing Group topped the list with a revenue of 5.053 billion euros, while Thomson Reuters and Bertelsmann ranked second and third, with revenue exceeding 4 billion euros.

According to the 2022 World Publishing Company Rankings, the total revenue of the top 50 publishing groups in the 2021 fiscal year was 58.846 billion euros ($66.655 billion), and the entry threshold for the top 50 companies was 157 million euros ($177 million).

From the perspective of revenue scale, 19 out of the top 50 global publishing companies have revenue exceeding 1 billion euros, 15 companies have revenue ranging from 500 to 1 billion euros, 14 companies have revenue ranging from 200 to 500 million euros, and the remaining 2 companies on the list have revenue below 200 million yuan. From the perspective of national distribution, the top 50 well-known publishing groups are mainly concentrated in well-known powerful countries such as the United States, Germany, France, Japan, the United Kingdom, and China.
