Abstract:
Drawing on the two case studies—the 2024–2025 Higher Education Press Outstanding Case Study Collection and Exchange Activity for Ideological and Political Education in Foreign Language Courses (National First Prize, “Dream” theme) —specifically the Grand Prize (theme: “Song of Freedom”)—this paper examines the teaching design of these two courses from the perspective of the presenters. Following the three-tiered evaluation process—online preliminary review, on-site presentation at the provincial competition, and on-the-spot presentation at the national competition—it analyzes the core highlights of the teaching design under the themes of “Personal Ideals and National Development” and “dialectical relationship between freedom and rules” in the course-based ideological and political education design for these two themes. By integrating practical details from specific lesson presentation segments and task-based case studies from the instructional design, this study outlines strategies for progressive optimization and methods for addressing challenges. Based on practical experience, this study constructs a three-dimensional “content-logic-interaction” model for teaching demonstrations in university English courses with ideological and political education. It distills a practical pathway of “case-based empowerment, demonstration-enhanced effectiveness, and integration of competitions and teaching,” providing a practical reference for university foreign language teachers to improve the quality of their teaching demonstrations and promote the routine implementation of the integration of competitions and teaching.
