Teaching Reform and Practice of Blended Learning for the Course "Fuel Cell Materials" Basedon OBE Concept and Virtual-real Integration

Abstract:
Against the backdrop of the dual-carbon strategy, hydrogen energy and fuel cell technologies have become core areas of energy transition. The traditional course Fuel Cell Materials faces such teaching pain pointsas disconnection between theory and practice, insufficient cultivation of high-level abilities, and limited experimental conditions. Guided by the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) concept, this paper carries out ablended teaching reform of the course featuring virtual-real integration. Centering on students’ ability outcomes, it reversely reconstructs the teaching system and builds a three-dimensional practical training framework of "virtual simulation–physical operation–engineering cases". Digital simulation tools are adopted to address the problems of high cost, high risk, and difficulty in observing microscopic mechanisms in traditional experiments, realizing the visualized teaching of electrochemical reaction processes. Teaching practice shows that after thereform, the pass rate of students’ material property tests has increased by 23.6%, the number of innovative experimental schemes has risen by 41.2%, and the overall course satisfaction score reaches 4.32 out of 5. Students’ learning behavior data indicate a significant positive correlation between virtual simulation operation duration and practical performance (r=0.73, p<0.001). This reform has constructed a four-stage curriculum content system and a three-stage teaching mode, and established a diversified quantitative evaluation system, which effectively improves students’ ability to solve complex engineering problems and conduct innovative practices. It provides a replicable paradigm for the teaching reform of new energy engineering courses.
