Abstract:
Appellation is a common language element in formal speeches, which plays an important role in
etiquette expression, identity confirmation and emotional transmission. This paper selects the public speech texts
of China and Mongolia within one year as the corpus, and uses the methods of corpus statistics and functional
analysis to study from four aspects : type division, frequency distribution, scene difference and rhetorical
function. The results show that the general appellations such as "everyone" are frequently used in Chinese
corpus, which reflects the characteristics of collective and group orientation. The Mongolian language corpus is
mainly based on respectful appellations such as "Эрхэм хүндэт", showing the important position of identity and
group identity in the discourse system. In different scenarios, the choice of address terms shows different
characteristics and plays an important rhetorical role in affinity construction, identity confirmation and discourse
cohesion. This study reveals the characteristics of the use of address terms in the two types of corpus, and
provides a reference for understanding the rhetorical logic and communication methods in cross-language
speeches.
