Abstract:

In the globalized and transnational world, immigration has increased dramatically, and the boundaries between nations have become increasingly blurred. Immigration provides unique sociocultural contexts for immigrant parents. Moving to a new country can result in both changes and challenges to immigrant families as they adjust to the cultural differences between their new country and their home country. Acculturation is the term used to describe the cultural changes that occur after immigration because of ongoing interactions between two cultures. The process of acculturation can lead to beliefs, values, identity, and actions changes. These changes probably have complicated effects on parenting, especially among Chinese immigrant mothers.
