Abstract:

Against the backdrop of the implementation of the “Healthy China 2030” Outline, yoga courses in higher education institutions—as an integral part of physical education—play a vital role in promoting students’ physical and mental well-being, advancing the concept of national fitness, and facilitating the implementation of the “Healthy China” strategy within universities. Drawing on relevant research, this paper systematically analyzes the prominent issues currently facing university yoga courses in four areas: teaching objectives, faculty resources, evaluation systems, and teaching methods. It clarifies the necessity of optimizing university yoga courses under the “Healthy China” framework, the strategic significance of yoga, and the multidimensional positive impacts of these courses on students. Consequently, this paper proposes scientifically sound and feasible teaching reform measures across three dimensions—optimizing the course evaluation system, building and cultivating a professional faculty, and innovating teaching methods—to provide theoretical support and practical guidance for promoting the high-quality development of university yoga courses, achieving the goal of lifelong physical education in higher education, and advancing the Healthy China strategy.
