Abstract:

Based on the 2023 China General Social Survey (CSS) data, this study takes 2,246 young people aged 18 to 40 as the research object, and constructs a mediating effect model to test the mediating role of environmental attitude by using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and Wen Zhonglin's stepwise regression method. The results show that: higher education background (accounting for 48.1%) has a significant positive predictive effect on pro-environmental behavior (M=1.37, SD=1.25) (B=0.112, p<0.05), and a significant negative predictive effect on environmental attitude (M=2.10, SD=0.59) (B=-0.062, p<0.05); environmental attitude is strongly positively correlated with pro-environmental behavior (r=0.567, p<0.01) and plays a partial mediating role between them (mediating effect value=-0.075). This study breaks the traditional cognition and enriches the research perspective on the relationship between education and pro-environmental behavior.
